A short time before Google I/O 2013, an option to sync 'AppData' was introduced and rolled out to most Android devices; both my SGSII running 4.1.x and an older Sony Ericsson running 2.x.x got it.
But after restoring my phone (did this some time ago now, things could have changed) not a single app's data came back. Under Dashboard (https://www.google.com/dashboard/), it used to say for a short time that the Google 'MyTracks' app had its data stored (see attached picture), however it disappeared and as of today no other app has turned up there.
Except for these two entries:
Android System Settings
Backup date: Aug 26, 2013 9:56 PM
Backup size: 4.15 KB
Android Market
Backup date: Aug 17, 2013 2:27 PM
Backup size: 16 B
I know this functionality has to be turned on by every developer on each app separately - and it's possible that some of them are a bit lazy, but is it really possible that not a single one added this piece of code, not even Google themselves in popular apps such as Gmail, Google+ or Calendar?
My questions are:
-is AppData fully enabled as of today?
-why is it not syncing? Is the (lack of) Dashboard listing mentioned above anything to take notice of?
There are also some app data options under Backup & Restore in the menu, also including Wi-Fi passwords and settings. Do these options equal to the AppData setting?
